With this design the seat will pull out into a single bed, pretty magnificent for either sleepovers, or for just lounging around reading. The work area is quite small, but this does not seem to be a problem. The configuration means that the futon can always be used as an extended work area, if they are referencing books or maps then with a swivel desk chair they can simply spread their materials over the futon and write at the desk.

There's a 3rd feature which is similar to the set up with a work station, but in this area there's storage instead of a desk. Having a separate desk may seem more practical at first glance. This is an adult way of looking at the setup. Talk about this feature with your children and you will possibly find that they are not so keen on it. By having drawers and storage space underneath the top bunk it makes the area underneath less fun. If you want to maximise your storage area then you might be better of with a mid height bed with storage, rather than a bunk bed with futon?

Which ever bunk bed with futon design you choose it is critical to discuss it with your children and to make sure that they are happy. It is also a good idea to invest in a few new bedding and accessories to make it that little bit more special and personal.
